Less than an hour and a half from Melbourne, The Potager is a blissful country retreat found at Golden Point, in a secluded valley alongside Forest Creek, where the first alluvial gold of the region was discovered.

Self contained cottage

There is something timeless about the cottage, which was built of local sandstone in the 1860's and is surrounded by soaring Lombardy Poplars set on 3 acres of country garden.

Timeless stone cottage

The original building has been added to and restored and now offers self-contained accommodation with an idyllic rustic ambience.

Beyond the rose hedged swimming pool is the 'the potager' garden (a formally laid out herb and vegetable garden) which has been evolving over the past 10 years."

A leisurely walk through the bush full of bird life takes you to the ruins of the Welsh Village, gold reefs, shafts and tunnels...

Guests can also entertain family and friends under the shade of the silver poplars on the terrace or simply in front of the huge open fire.
